The 13th “Statics – Construction Practice“ (Falls zu übersetzten) convention/symposium takes place in the “Audimax” and adjoining lecture halls of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) on the 20th – 21st of March 2017. The convention/symposium is organised by the “Institute for Structural Mechanics” of the RUB in cooperation with the chair of “Statics and structural design” (Falls übersetzten) of Universität Duisburg-Essen and the “Institute of Mechanics statics dynamics” of the university TU Dortmund as part of the university alliance UA Ruhr.

In 2015 the “planen-bauen 4.0 GmbH” company was founded. The idea for the company was developed during the commission for construction and major projects hosted by the federal transport minster Dobrindt. Main task of the commission is the coordination, organization and supporting the digitization of the entire value-added chain of planning and operation in Germany.
Engineers under the influence of digital internal market – consequences for planners and education
Some of you may already have an idea of my opinion in respect to the education system and higher education policy. Therefore I will not repeat myself or my published articles.
This speech is divided into two parts. First I am going to mention some general aspects of digitization, its possible risks as well as its opportunities. Afterwards I will talk about “Design and Construction 4.0” and explaining the consequences for education system and education.
